more-in A meeting of the Health Department to review the steps taken to prevent leptospirosis in the district was held at the Collectorate conference hall on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the decisions taken at an emergency meeting, presided over by the district panchayat president, on June 10 in the wake of the increase in leptospirosis cases in the district. Municipal and Corporation authorities informed the meeting that ward-level sanitation committee meetings and further steps had been held successfully. Five people with leptospirosis had sought treatment in the district till date this month. The cases were in Vilavoorkkal, Peroorkada, Pallichal, Nemom, and Aamachal. As per the decision of the emergency meeting, preventive medicines were distributed. Nearly 3.7 lakh more tablets needed to be distributed, the review meeting said.
