Guru’s statue to come up at Museum junction

The statue would come up in the elevated land located at the junction where the Museum-Vellayambalam road branches off to Nandavanam. Kurian and Culture Secretary Rani George to identify a suitable location for the statue in the city. The State Cabinet had, on November 15, decided to install the statue of the social reformer to mark the centenary celebrations of the Guru’s Namukku Jathiyilla (‘I have no caste’) proclamation. The land would be handed over to the Culture Department for installing the statue. The Cabinet had also directed Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) P.H.

The exact spot could be on the right corner of this picture, probably above the graffiti 'NGO' more-in The State Cabinet has allotted 8.02 ares (19.81 cents) of land for installing the the long-awaited statue of Sree Narayana Guru in the capital city. The statue would come up in the elevated land located at the junction where the Museum-Vellayambalam road branches off to Nandavanam. The land would be handed over to the Culture Department for installing the statue. However, ownership of the land would remain with the Revenue Department.
