Thiruvananthapuram: As a step towards making the state old-age friendly, the social justice department has introduced a new initiative under Sayamprabha (a scheme for elderly ) titled ‘Vayomadhuram’ on Wednesday.The scheme was launched by social justice minister K K Shailaja while inaugurating the state-level observance of Elder Abuse Awareness Day.The Vayomadhuram scheme is launched with an aim to provide glucometers freely to elderly diabetic persons coming under the ‘below poverty line’ category.As many as 50 elderly inmates from various old-age homes received glucometers and needles from the minister.
