Principal gets letter abusing Abhimanyu

more-in Even as the police are in pursuit of the criminal squad that had stabbed Abhimanyu, an SFI activist at the Ernakulam Maharaja’s College, the Principal of the college has received an anonymous letter abusing the slain SFI activist and criticising the financial help extended by the college authorities to his family members. K.N. Krishna Kumar, Principal, said that the letter was handed over to the Ernakulam Central Police. The content is mostly portraying Abhimanyu in bad light. The writer also blamed the college authorities for providing financial aid to the family of the victim while saying that there were also others, who deserved such help, he said. Prof. Kumar said the letter was handed over to the investigating officials. Meanwhile, the police team probing the case on Saturday received custody of three accused in the case till July 28. Considering a petition moved by the investigation team, a court granted custody of first accused Muhammad JI, fifth accused Adhil Bin and 25th accused Shanavas K.K. for a detailed interrogation. Earlier in the day, the three suspects were subjected to a medical examination before being released to police custody. The investigation team is currently after a Thammanam native, accused of planning the SFI activist’s murder and executing the operation. The police picked up his trail following the arrest of Muhammad, a Campus Front of India activist. Official sources said the person was responsible for selecting members of the killer squad, who had been camping at a hostel run by the CFI in Kochi. The police already carried out a raid at his residence near Chalikkavattom though to no avail. The police also collected evidence from several PFI and SDPI workers contacting the person over phone soon after the murder.
