Singh first wrote to all online sites and their local offices in the state to withdraw these products or face action. The excise department is of the view that the present excise rules cannot take strong action against such product manufacturing companies and hence action can be taken only against those who are engaged in the sale of products. However, the department can take action against people who are buying such products citing illicit brewing. The excise commissioner is of the view that once the cyber police track those who have bought these products, it could be identified whether these buyers are engaged in illicit brewing. The excise department is also planning to approach the Centre to rein in these online sites which sell such products.
