more-in Governor P. Sathasivam inaugurated the K.V. Surendranath Trust set up in the name of Communist leader and former Parliamentarian K.V. Surendranath here on Wednesday. Mr. Sathasivam said he was in agreement with Surendranath’s ideas on labour disputes, environmental issues, and use of public assets. Gandhian thoughts had influenced Surendranath who was first a socialist and then became a communist. The trust set up in his name should try and work for solutions to social and environmental problems faced by the State, he said. CPI State unit secretary Kanam Rajendran who is the trust patron delivered the keynote address. Surendranath was a guide to new generation communists, he said. Binoy Viswam, MP, said Surendranath was a man ahead of his times. Poet and activist Sugathakumari and trust president G.R. Anil were present at the function.
