RPF Raising Day celebrated

Awareness programme, wellness check up, blood donation drive and medical check-up against lifestyle diseases and ceremonial parade marked the 33rd Raising Day of the elite Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Monday. Ticketless travelFurther, RPF personnel assisted Commercial department in detection of 1,77,150 ticketless travellers and an amount of ?7. In his address, Mr. Sinha urged officers and the RPF personnel to perform their duty with passion and integrity. The Raising Day also turned to be a platform for the RPF to project their achievements.

In his address, Mr. Sinha urged officers and the RPF personnel to perform their duty with passion and integrity. The DRM assured full support to the RPF contingent in achieving their goal of ensuring a secure and safe travel for all Railway passengers. To mark the day, a blood donation camp was organised on the divisional office premises in association with the capital-based Citizens India Foundation. As many as 34 RPF personnel donated blood. Wellness check-up A wellness check-up for RPF personnel was organised in association with Railway Hospital. A special medical awareness programme against lifestyle diseases was held to create awareness among the force. S. Ramakrishnan, Divisional Security Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram Division, and officials of Railway and the RPF attended. The Raising Day also turned to be a platform for the RPF to project their achievements. In 2018, 32 offenders so far have been arrested under the provisions of Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act for having committed theft of Railway property. As many as 12,239 offenders were prosecuted and ?10.95 lakh realised as fine for crimes such as unauthorised vending, travelling in compartment reserved for women or differently abled passengers, and selling of railway ticket by unauthorised agents. Ticketless travel Further, RPF personnel assisted Commercial department in detection of 1,77,150 ticketless travellers and an amount of ?7. 35 crore was realised as fine in 2017-18. The RPF is also actively pursuing its drive against alarm chain pulling, detentions and agitations. 342 offenders In nine months of 2018, 342 offenders have been arrested. The RPF Thiruvananthapuram unit has been given the responsibility of securing travel on more than 600 route kilometers, 105 railway stations and more than two lakh passengers.
