NDA march: Security strengthened in city

As part of the security arrangements, the Thiruvananthapuram city police have divided the stretch into nine zones, each of which will be supervised by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. Vehicles coming from Nedumangad towards Thampanoor and East Fort will be diverted at Peroorkada to proceed along Pippinmoodu, Sasthamangalam, Edappazhinji and SMC junction. Vehicles will be diverted from Vellayambalam towards Althara, SMC junction, Vazhuthacaud and Xanadu when the rally reaches PMG junction until it passes by the area. Vehicles which are headed for the NH-66 and MC Road from Thampanoor will be required to proceed along Bakery junction, Underpass, Pettah and Chakka. The rally, which is expected to commence from Pattom at 10.30 a.m., will traverse nearly 3 km to reach Secretariat where a valedictory meeting will be held. As part of the security arrangements, the Thiruvananthapuram city police have divided the stretch into nine zones, each of which will be supervised by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. The precautionary measures will have focus points at each junctions, especially where there are crossovers including Pattom, PMG and RR Lamp. Besides mobilising the entire city police force, additional forces of around 200 personnel will also be deployed. They will include those from the Armed Reserve Camp and the Woman Police Battalion. The police estimated around 10,000 activists to take part in the rally, which is expected to conclude by around 2 p.m. The traffic regulations will also come into force at 10.30 a.m. with the demonstrators being allotted the eastern side of the road. The police have designated alighting points for activists being transported from various parts of the district. Their vehicles will be parked at the Attukal parking ground. Vehicles coming from Nedumangad towards Thampanoor and East Fort will be diverted at Peroorkada to proceed along Pippinmoodu, Sasthamangalam, Edappazhinji and SMC junction. Vehicles coming from Attingal along the NH-66 bypass will be required to divert at the Kuzhivila junction and proceed through Ulloor, Medical College, Kannammooola, Pattoor, Asan square and Underpass. Vehicles will be diverted from Vellayambalam towards Althara, SMC junction, Vazhuthacaud and Xanadu when the rally reaches PMG junction until it passes by the area. Vehicles which are headed for the NH-66 and MC Road from Thampanoor will be required to proceed along Bakery junction, Underpass, Pettah and Chakka. Likewise, vehicles from East Fort will have to divert from Government Ayurveda College and proceed along Kaithamukku and Pattoor roads. Parking along the route of the rally will also be restricted until its completion.
