City student bags ‘Top in the World’ award

Thiruvananthapuram: Navin Kishore Kumar, a Grade XII student in Dubai and hailing from the city, bagged the ‘Top in the World’ award instituted by Cambridge International.The award will be presented to Navin for 100% score in Grade X Mathematics examination for International General Certificate of Secondary Education held in May – June 2018.Navin, a former student of L’ecole Chempaka International is now studying at Cambridge International School, Dubai. He is the only student who bagged the honour in the state this year.“Navin was among the brightest students in our school. He was well-focused on his studies as well as active in extracurricular activities,” L’eCole Chempaka School principal Maya Gomez said. His drive and passion for the subject and unqualified support from his facilitators have been instrumental in this achievement. With this achievement, he could get admission in prestigious institutions for graduation and pursue his dream for space research,” his father said.Navin now lives with his mother Vidya Kishore Kumar, a financial consultant in Dubai.

With ‘Top in the World’ award, he will receive a scholarship and many other opportunities for higher studies,” she said.The school has organised a felicitation programme for his achievement on November 18.His father Kishore Kumar, an IT consultant, said Navin was curious about space science as a child and wanted to become an astronaut. “As there were not many institutions here which offered the subject astrophysics which he wanted to study, he went to Dubai to continue his education. With this achievement, he could get admission in prestigious institutions for graduation and pursue his dream for space research,” his father said.Navin now lives with his mother Vidya Kishore Kumar, a financial consultant in Dubai.
