Police to probe death of fisherman

Thiruvananthapuram: Valiyathura Police have launched a probe after a 56-year-old man was found dead in his residence on Monday morning. Witness report suggested that a group of young men assaulted Kurishappan in the early hours of Monday morning.The probe is being led by Shanghumukham ACP. A four-member gang who was involved in the spat is suspected to be behind the attack on the man. Kurishappan was living alone for a while after being separated from his wife. The deceased was identified as Herrybai alias Kurishappan, a fisherman from Thaivilakam beach, Kochuveli.His body was found naked with multiple injuries and assault marks.

Deep wounds were found near the left eye and jaw of Kurishappan.The police are awaiting the postmortem report from Medical College Hospital for further investigation.According to police officers investigating the case, Kurishappan had got into an argument with some of the residents a few days ago.
