“There will be no issue at Sabarimala when the temple opens for Mandala-Makaravilakku festival. A senior lawyer will be appearing for the TDB but I am not ready to disclose the name now,” he said. Thiruvananthapuram: State government, political parties and Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) are keeping their fingers crossed as the Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi considers three writ petitions and 46 review petitions on the recent SC order allowing entry to women of all ages to Sabarimala temple on Tuesday.Sources in the government said they don’t expect a major change in the SC verdict and so they will go ahead with plans already conceived to implement the order. It is reliably learnt that there is confusion among the CPM leadership on the path to be taken now on Sabarimala issue. With only four days remaining for the beginning of Mandala-Makaravilakku season, a section in the party has already begun preaching the path of consensus, something which the party hasn’t given much thrust since the day of the SC verdict.“The government’s view is convening an all-party meet before the Mandala-Makaravilakku festival. We are awaiting the SC verdict,” devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran told reporters on Monday morning. He was corrected by his party boss Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who told reporters in Kochi that he had no idea about any decision by the government to convene an all-party meeting. Later in the day, Surendran amended his position and said the CM has to take a decision on all-party meeting. On Tuesday, there will be a review meeting on Sabarimala pilgrimage preparedness convened by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. There are also reports that the chief minister will visit Pamba and Nilackal before the festival.Meanwhile, senior lawyer Aryama Sundaram has decided not to appear for the TDB on Tuesday. The devaswom commissioner has been camping in New Delhi for the past three days meeting senior lawyers.TDB president A Padmakumar said some people and organizations influenced Sundaram.“I believe that a few organizations are behind the decision taken by Sundaram. A senior lawyer will be appearing for the TDB but I am not ready to disclose the name now,” he said. Sundaram had earlier appeared for Nair Service Society in the SC and it is learnt that he will be appearing for one of the writ petitioners on Tuesday. The TDB president made it clear that he was hopeful of a favourable verdict and the festival season will be an incident-free one. “There will be no issue at Sabarimala when the temple opens for Mandala-Makaravilakku festival. Lord Ayyappa is there. He will take care of everything and there will be a solution for everything,” Padmakumar said.
