Kerala State Lotteries is a state-run lottery programme of the Government of Kerala. The Kerala State Lottery department was established in the year 1967, under the Government of Kerala.In the year 1967, the state banned all the private lottery businesses and started its own state lotteries. The department has now been moved under the Taxes Department.There are different types of Lottery Draws under the Kerala State Lotteries programme with different prize structure.The Kerala State Lottery Department conducts seven weekly lotteries including - Pournami, Win Win, Sthree Sakthi, Akshaya, Karunya Plus, Nirmal and Karunya. The idea of starting a state-run lottery programme was a brainchild of then Kerala Finance Minister P K Kunju Sahib. The draw is held at 3:00 PM every day at Sree Chithira Home Auditorium, Pazhavangadi, East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram.In addition to the above, the Kerala Lottery department also conducts several seasonal 'bumper' lotteries such as - Xmas, Summer, Vishu, Monsoon, Thiruvonam and Pooja.The results of the lottery are published on the official website of Kerala lotteries - www.keralalotteries.com - on the same day.
