Now, declare your assets while joining state government service

At present, government employees declare their property assets before the end of each financial year.The new amendment has been made by the state government as per the recommendations of the vigilance director to check corruption involving government employees. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: From now on if you are joining a state government job, you will have to declare yours and your family’s assets and investments.In an extraordinary gazette issued by personnel and administrative reforms department it has been made mandatory that “every government servant at the time of joining the government service, furnishes the details regarding his/her movable or immovable properties for entering in the service book.”The government has amended the Kerala Public Services Act of 1968 and Kerala Government Servant’s Conduct Rules of 1960 for implementing the new stipulation.Till now, only people’s representatives and bureaucrats had to make their assets public in the state.As per the new amendment, the details of the assets, investments, bank accounts and shareholdings in the name of the employee, spouse and children will have to be given.Apart from this, the details of the business activities in own name, or in the name of spouse or children and of immediate family members with annual turnover and liabilities also to have to be mentioned at the time of joining.As per the notification, the amendment has come into force with immediate effect.
