Guv seeks report from CM on Kasaragod killings

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor P Sathasivam on Tuesday sought an urgent report from the chief minister on the status of the police investigation into the murders of two Youth Congress workers near Periya in Kasaragod .Earlier, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala met the governor and “briefed him about the issue”. Hence the CBI should investigate all the political killings,’’ he said.Chennithala alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the killing of the two Kasaragod youths, and CPM leaders were involved.He also flayed CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s statement that the previous UDF government had falsely implicated Kunhanandan in the T P Chandrashekaran murder case.“The CPM state secretary is questioning the credentials of the judiciary which has punished Kunjanandan in the TP murder case,’’ Chennithala said. He had informed that the families of the victims were under utmost grief due to their personal loss and due to the delay in the arrest of all culprits,” the Raj Bhavan said.Chennithala also told the governor that since the post of ADGP (North) has been vacant for the past six to eight months, the monitoring of the law and order in Kasaragod has been affected.The governor sought the urgent probe status report after the meeting with Chennithala.“The governor is upset over the political killings and expressed concern over the killing of the two Youth Congress workers,” the opposition leader said.Chennithala sought a CBI probe into all political killings in the state.“If the state police are investigating, they will arrest only those who are produced by the CPM.
