NRI on vacation killed in road accident

Thiruvananthapuram: A 35-year old man who was undergoing treatment at a hospital following an accident succumbed to injuries on Monday. The deceased, identified as Praveen Kumar, of Sreeramapuram, Kalluvathukal, Kollam met with an accident while riding pillion on a two-wheeler ridden by his cousin, Sindhu, who escaped with minor injuries.The accident happened at Thycaud flyover on Sunday. The funeral will be held at 10.30 am on his house premises on Tuesday. So, an investigation is required to know what really happened," he said.Praveen who was employed in the Gulf had come on leave a few days ago.

The police are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident. Initially, it was suspected as a hit and run case. “After the accident, we were told that the scooter had skidded and she lost control while overtaking a KSRTC bus,” said Thampanooor S I Sukesh S. “But when the statement was recorded, she said that a vehicle had hit the scooter from behind. However, witness accounts do not point to such a vehicle. So, an investigation is required to know what really happened," he said.Praveen who was employed in the Gulf had come on leave a few days ago.
