Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP core committee meeting held here on Monday evaluated the prospects of party candidates in at least three seats as positive. The leadership decided against pitting state leaders against Congress president Rahul Gandhi , if at all he contests from Wayanad seat.In the event of Rahul seeking mandate from Wayanad Lok Sabha segment, the centre would take a call on the future course of action to be taken by the BJP. Since the party has no prospects to win the seat where minority votes decide the winner, it would be better for the BJP state unit to concentrate on Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Palakkad seats where the party has a chance to win, the committee is learned to have opined. BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai and senior BJP leaders attended the meeting.Meanwhile, BJP’s candidate for Thiruvananthapuram constituency Kummanam Rajasekharan called on actor Mohanlal here and sought his support. However, Kummanam said that the meeting was informal and was solely aimed at congratulating the actor whom the country has recently honoured with Padma Bhushan.
