Kerala man stabs wife, in-laws; wife succumbs to injuries

The deceased has been identified as Rajani, wife of Sreekumar of Malayinkeezh. On Tuesday evening, he reached Rajani’s residence and started a quarrel. "Sreekumar and Rajani had been living separately for the past few months," said a police officer attached to Vattiyoorkavu police station. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 43-year-old homemaker succumbed to stab injuries allegedly inflicted by her husband at Melathumele under Vattiyoorkavu police station limits on Tuesday evening during a domestic dispute. It is suspected that he came pre-planned with an intention to harm his wife as he had brought along the weapon that he used to stab Rajani and her parents.Rajani suffered stab injuries on her neck and chest.

The deceased has been identified as Rajani, wife of Sreekumar of Malayinkeezh. The police have taken Sreekumar into custody following the incident.Rajani’s parents, Krishnan (72) and Ramadevi (68) too were attacked by the accused and they were admitted to Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.According to the police, the crime took place around 6.15 pm at Rajani’s residence located in Maelathumele."Sreekumar and Rajani had been living separately for the past few months," said a police officer attached to Vattiyoorkavu police station. On Tuesday evening, he reached Rajani’s residence and started a quarrel. It is suspected that he came pre-planned with an intention to harm his wife as he had brought along the weapon that he used to stab Rajani and her parents.Rajani suffered stab injuries on her neck and chest. Krishnan and Ramadevi were also stabbed on chest. Both of them are yet to come out of danger, the police said quoting hospital sources.The police officials further said that Sreekumar was addicted to alcohol. A few years ago, Rajani admitted him to a de-addiction centre with the help of both families and later helped him secure a job in a Gulf country. However, he returned from Gulf soon and went back to his old lifestyle, following which Rajani left him.The couple has two children, a daughter and a son.
