Kerala mass rape horror: Teen girl brutalised by 44 men including relatives for 3 years; 20 arrested

Of the total cases, seven are extremely grave and serious. That includes charges of rape. There are 44 accused in this case and the accused in the grave offences have been arrested. 20 of them in total are arrested.

In a recently reported traumatising incident where a minor was allegedly raped by 44 men in four years, new developments have come up. The 17 years-old claimed there were some relatives who were also part of the whole indecent event that incurred on her.

Pandikad police in Malappuram district said they have filed 32 cases against 44 men and arrested 20 of them. 

The 17-year-old survivor is at present in the protection of the Child Welfare Committee. During counselling sessions, she informed the authorities at Nirbhaya centre about the series of sexual abuses and molestation she had been exposed to.

The victim has given a statement before a magistrate under 164 of CrPc statement. The girl stated that she was sexually abused in 2016 and 2017 multiple times. The sexual assault went on since she was 13-year-old. 

After the incident, she was sent to the Child Home and allowed to go with her mother and brother about a year ago. The girl alleged that she again faced sexual harassment at the hand of her relatives for the third time.

The Malappuram CWC president Shajesh Bhasker said the CWC has taken all legal and logical steps to ensure the safety of the child, when she was released from the Child Home, about a year ago.

Mohammed Haneefa, Circle Inspector of Police told the news agency that the girl was missing for some time after she was released from Child Home and was traced from Palakkad in December last and brought to the Nirbhaya centre.
