No death due to lack of beds or oxygen, assures Kerala Health Minister.

With the continuous allege against the mismanagement of Covid in the state, Kerala, Kerala health minister Veena George said that no one in the state had died without oxygen or without getting an ICU bed or hospital.

She calls it a “campaign against the state" which is unfortunate. She also hailed the “effective" plan and system of the Kerala government to combat Covid-19.

“It’s quite unfortunate that there is such a campaign. In the state, no one died without getting oxygen, or without getting an ICU bed or hospital. Our defense system and our plan proved effective. Virologists and experts from different parts of the country are saying that Kerala’s strategy is different and is quite effective. Our system and plan are effective," said the minister.

For three consecutive days, Kerala has reported over 22,000 Covid cases. The health minister said that susceptibility is a major reason for the increase in cases. According to ICMR, a zero prevalence survey shows about 57 percent of the people are still susceptible to the virus. The minister added that the only way out of this is to vaccinate the people and the state has been requesting more vaccines.

She added that the situation is under control because the occupancy of hospital beds, ICU beds is less than 50 percent. Veena George added that the state health secretary has not received any letter from the union health secretary on “super-spreader events" noticed in the state.
