more-in The momentous phase leading to the State’s reorganisation, the formation of the first government as well as certain moments during the rule of the second E.M.S. Namboodiripad government, which had come to power in 1967, have all been captured in rare photographs being displayed at Kanakakkunnu Palace as part of the ongoing diamond jubilee celebrations of the first Ministry. Around 50 large-sized images have been featured at the exhibition, organised by the Information and Public Relations Department, that will continue until April 26. Begins with Quite fittingly, the display begins with a photograph of EMS being sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Kerala by the then Governor Burgula Ramakrishna Rao. The life of EMS and his interactions with senior statesmen, during his two terms as Chief Minister, form a major portion of the collection on display. They include photographs that feature EMS with prominent figures, including the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Kerala Engineering Research Institute (in Peechi) in 1958; former Presidents S. Radhakrishnan, Communist leaders A.K. Gopalan, M.N. Govindan Nair, Congress leader and son of the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir Karan Singh, as well as with members of the first Council of Ministers, including K.R. Gouri, the sole survivor from the first Ministry.
