We have seen Govind Menon, the frontman of Thaikkudam Bridge band, set stages alight with his rush of energy. Now we will get to see him blaze the screen in the gangster story ‘World of Siva’ in Bejoy Nambiar’s upcoming anthology film Solo, starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. He plays Nandha, the hyperactive henchman of Siva (Dulquer). “ Like me, he is also from Thrissur. Bejoy’s plan was to make him a character from Ernakulam. But I told him that there was no way I could muster up a convincing Kochi slang,” says Govind in his distinctive Thrissur dialect, which he quips is the only thing common between him and the ruthless character he plays in the movie. Defining himself as a ‘paavam’ (simpleton), Govind says that he is nothing like Nandha and that made his debut onscreen an interesting outing. “As I was already friends with Dulquer and Bijoy, it was not hard for me. It was a great learning experience. But I don’t think I’ll take up more roles, if at all I get new offers. Being an actor means I will only have little time for my band and that can’t happen,” he adds. But an occasional foray onto the big screen, Govind says, is more than likely to happen. In the recently released teaser of ‘World of Siva’. the metal cover of Aigiri Nandhini, composed and sung by Govind, plays in the background, as we get glimpses of the bloody world of Siva. It is Govind’s seventh outing as music director. He adds,“There is also another track Siva Thandava. Both are for ‘World of Siva’ and are played in the background during the film. Bijoy was adamant that he wanted such a version of Aigiri Nandhini as it is perfect for the mood of the film.”
