Protect our livelihood, say roadside vendors

SrinathMembers of Manithaneya Varthagargal Nala Sangam submitted a petition to the district administration appealing for safeguards to their livelihood in the city limits. Till the formation of the Vending Committee, the vendors eking out hand to mouth existence must be allowed to continue their trade, the district unit president of the Manithaneya Varthagargal Nala Sangam emphasised. The president of the district unit of the Sangam A. Kabir Ahmed said in the petition that the City Corporation had not yet conducted proper enumeration of the vendors. The petition by the Sangam also expressed apprehensions that the implementation of the Smart City project in the surroundings of Rockfort could scuttle their livelihood.
