Railway employee shot by estranged husband dies

Trichy: The 29-year-old railway woman employee who was undergoing treatment at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, after she was shot by his estranged husband, succumbed to injuries during the wee hours on Sunday. Ranjithkumar was a constable attached to 113 battalion of border security force (BSF) in Nalanda. He had come to Trichy to meet her, police said. Her husband, a BSF constable in in Bihar, killed himself with a revolver after shooting her on Saturday night in Trichy.According to the police, the deceased were identified as B Ranjithkumar, 33, and his wife, N Rajani Kumari, 29, a railway employee, both hailing from Bihar.The incident happened around 9 pm at the house in Kallukuzhi where Rajani was residing. The couple had parted ways for more than three years.Their 8-year-old daughter, who was studying in Bihar, was admitted in class III at a school in Trichy for the current academic year, Cantonment police inspector V Senthamizhselvan told TOI.As the girl child was brought to Trichy for studies, Ranjith might have had a difference in opinion, as the transfer was aimed at restricting him from meeting his daughter, he added.“A verbal altercation might have triggered the issue leading to their deaths,” he said.
