TRICHY: Airport police booked 10 people of Naam Tamilar Katchi, including the party leader Seeman , while six cadres from the party have been arrested in connection with a clash that erupted at the Trichy international airport on Saturday between the cadres of Naam Tamilar Katchi and MDMK.According to police, they have registered a case against Seeman and the party’s district secretary Prabhu and eight others under various sections such as 147, 148, 294 B, 324, 506 (2), based on a complaint lodged by Trichy district secretary of MDMK Vellamandi Somu, police sources said.Police arrested six persons, including Alexander, Rajendran, Manikandan, Gunasekaran, Sathishkumar and Mathiazhagan.A clash had erupted between the cadres of MDMK and Naam Tamilar Katchi while they were waiting to receive their leaders Vaiko and Seeman respectively on Saturday. A fracas between the supporters of both parties had taken place while raising slogans praising their leaders and had ended up in a clash, police said.Both the supporters had a heated argument that snowballed into verbally attacking each other’s leaders. At one point, they started to attack each other with party flags, attached with sticks which they carried during the reception.On that day both the leaders were on their way to Ariyalur (Vaiko) and Neduvasal in Pudukottai district (Seeman) from Chennai on the same flight to participate various events, scheduled to be held on that day.
