Periyar Nagar rail overbridge will be opened by August, Trichy collector says

TRICHY: The much-awaited Periyar Nagar rail overbridge in Trichy will be opened for traffic by the first week of August, district collector K Rajamani said on Wednesday.The collector was speaking after inspecting the progress of overbridge work.The project has been executed by the state highways department, a portion of which has been built by the railway department.The work started two years ago at an estimated cost of Rs 43 crore. However, the cost escalated to Rs 125 crore at the end of construction due to land acquisition.The bridge will benefit close to 2.10 lakh people in Srirangam and Thiruvanaikoil.
