Man booked for FB post affecting national integration

In the invitation, he printed India’s map and had highlighted Tamil Nadu and Tamil Eelam (the provinces which were once under the control of LTTE in Sri Lanka) in black colour. He was also the president of the outfit for Kumbakonam area.

Trichy: Kumbakonam West police on Wednesday registered a case against a functionary of Tamizh Desa Kudiarasu Katchi on charges of circulating an invitation through social media which was allegedly against national integration.The invitation was to a conference that was to be held in Kumbakonam on July 17. It had India’s map and some objectionable phrases along with it, police said. The conference was to be held in a marriage hall at Nageswaran Temple Street in Kumbakonam.According to police, D Silambarasan, 37, a resident of Maruthuvakudi near Kabisthalam in Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district practices electro-homeopathy. He was also the president of the outfit for Kumbakonam area. He designed an invitation and posted it on social media, including his Facebook page.
