Trichy: Two motorcycle-borne men were killed after a speeding car knocked them down near Thiruvanaikaval in Trichy in the midnight of Thursday. Their friend sustained serious injuries.The deceased were identified as P Chandran, 22, from Abhishekapuram near Lalgudi and his friend R Anand, 21, from the same area. The injured was identified as M Kalanidhi, 20. All the three were construction workers.The trio had gone to Ariyamangalam to meet another friend on Thursday evening. It was said that they watched a movie in a theatre near Chathiram bus stand and left for their house by the two-wheeler.When the bike neared Iranian kovil near Melakondaiyampettai on the Trichy - Chennai four-way lane, a car hit them forcefully leaving them tossed up in the air. Chandran was killed on the spot while Anand and Kalanidhimaran were rushed to the government hospital in Srirangam.Anand was declared brought dead on reaching the hospital. Kalandhi is undergoing treatment.The traffic north investigation wing took up the investigation. Police said that two of them were under the influence of alcohol and the vehicle was proceeding in the wrong direction. tnn
