HMs among 12 errant teachers transferred in Pudukkottai district

Trichy: Cracking the whip on errant behaviour, the Pudukkottai district chief educational officer ordered the transfer of 12 school teachers including headmasters of primary schools on Monday. Besides this, some of the teachers were also found to be boozing during the school hours setting a wrong precedent,” said a source from the Pudukkottai CEO office. “Action had become unavoidable against some of the teachers who were found to be doing other businesses during schools hours that was affecting classes. Sources in the CEO office said that action had been initiated against only those teachers against whom there were repeated complaints. Complaints against the teachers included indulging in private business, boozing during schools hours and financial irregularities.The action by CEO Vanaja was primarily based on the complaints received from parents and school children against the teachers.

For instance, while schools reopened in the first week of June, not a single student was admitted to the government primary school at Valakolai village in Pudukkottai till date for this academic year. An inquiry by the school education department found that the HM had not taken any effort to admit students to the school. Besides the HM, Jothi, had also failed to engage with people in the neighbourhood. Parents in the village have been boycotting the school saying that they will not admit their children until the HM was transferred.Jothi was among the 12 teachers who have been transferred. Sources in the CEO office said that action had been initiated against only those teachers against whom there were repeated complaints. “Action had become unavoidable against some of the teachers who were found to be doing other businesses during schools hours that was affecting classes.
