Trichy: The Kumbakonam additional district and sessions court sentenced to life a father-son duo who were found guilty of murdering a 25-year-old auto driver in 2013.According to the charge sheet filed by the Nachiarkoil police, the victim S Pugazhenthi, 25, his father Srinivasan, elder brother Nagappan, 57, and his son N Balamurugan, 30, all agriculture labourers, lived at Enanalluur village near Kumbakonam.Both families had had frequent scuffles over property issues, police said.Meanwhile, a fresh scuffle had erupted between the two families on June 2, 2013. A heated argument turned violent and they began attacking each other.In a fit of a rage, both Nagappan and his son Balamurugan attacked Pugazhendhi with a wooden log on the head. The victim had collapsed and died on the spot due to a grievous injury on the head, the prosecution said.Based on a complaint, the Nachiarkoil police registered a case and filed a case with the court.The sessions judge sentenced Nagappan and his son Balamurugan to life on finding them guilty of murder. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on each.Following this both of them were lodged in the prison.
