more-in Two women were murdered in separate incidents in Tiruchi district on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as M. Kanthamani (48) of Soorampatti village in Kattuputhur and B. Dheivamani (35) of Reddymangudi near Siruganur. Police sources said Kanthamani, who married 25 years ago and was separated from her husband, was found murdered in her house at Soorampatti village with injuries to the head. Kattuputhur police have registered a case. They are looking into the possible motive and suspects involved in the murder. In the other incident, Dheivamani was murdered in her house at Reddymangudi near Siruganur. The Siruganur police arrested K. Kannan (32), a relative of the victim's husband, Balamurugan, on the charge of killing Dheivamani. Police sources related the murder to a case booked against Dheivamani’s complaint in 2004 against four persons: Balamurugan, his father, mother and uncle Krishnamoorthy. Dheivamani was the second wife of Balamurugan. In her complaint, Dheivamani had alleged that Balamurugan refused to marry her after she became pregnant following a reported love affair. Balamurugan's father, mother and his uncle Krishnamurthy were named as accused. Meanwhile, Balamurugan married another woman, Jothi. Subsequently, he married Dheivamani. However, the earlier case based on Dheivamani's complaint remained. As the four persons named as accused apparently failed to appear for hearings, a local court in Lalgudi issued a warrant against them. Following this, Balamurugan, his father, mother and uncle Krishnamurthy were remanded on Tuesday. Irked over Krishnamurthy,’s arrest, his son Kannan (32) allegedly attacked Dheivamani with a bottle and she died later. Kannan was arrested and a murder case booked against him.
