more-in A ‘Museum on Wheels’ showcasing artefacts reached Karur on Monday. A large number of visitors including school and college students visited the 'Museum on Wheels', designed by the Department of Museum, to have a glimpse of the exhibits on Tamil Nadu's history and culture at the Collectorate. Members of the public, who came to the Collectorate to present petitions at the weekly grievances day meet, also visited the museum. Collector T. Anbalagan was among the early visitors. He said the bus had several exhibits showcasing the State’s history, Indus-Valley civilisation, numismatics, art, culture, anthropology, geology, rock and cave arts, oldest musical instruments, arms and weapons dating back to Chola, Pandya and Pallava periods, rare pictures, underwater treasures, South Indian sculptures and others. The exhibits have been provided with explanations on English and Tamil for easy understanding. Mr. Anbalagan said the Museum on Wheels would be stationed at Karur Municipal Higher Secondary School in the morning on Tuesday. It would move to CSI Higher Secondary School in the afternoon.
