Trichy: Senior CPI(M) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, T K Rangarajan, has blamed the Centre’s policy promoting globalisation for the increase in petrol and diesel prices. He was speaking to reporters ahead of the seventh state conference of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Pensioners’ Organization in Trichy.The senior party leader also criticised BJP national secretary H Raja for his alleged remarks against the court and the police department recently during a Vinayagar idol procession at Meyyapuram in Pudukottai district. “The way he spoke against the court and the police was derogatory. Moreover, the ministers in Tamil Nadu coming in support of him has pushed democracy to disarray,” he added. Rangarajan claimed that along with AIADMK and the police, BJP had been disrespecting the statues of Periyar E V Ramasamy which was condemnable. He also said that the state and central governments had turned anti-people to an extent never witnessed before. “Even if any protest happens in Tamil Nadu, the government is resorting to curb it through arrests,” Rangarajan said.
