Trichy: Miscreants robbed a 60-year-old woman after tying her up at her house near Vallam in Thanjavur district. They looted gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 4 lakh. Police have launched an investigation to nab the culprits.According to police, the victim was identified as N Dhanalakshmi, wife of Neelamegam, 65, a farmer from Rajesh Nagar in the district. The incident took place when Neelamegam had gone out on Thursday night and Dhanalakhsmi was alone at home.She was sleeping when two unidentified men entered the house around 2am on Friday through the back door of the house. They woke Dhanalakhsmi up and tied her to a chair with a rope.They snatched all the ornaments that she was wearing and stole Rs 60 ,000 in cash kept inside the bureau and escaped. When Neelamegam returned home in the morning, he found Dhanalkhshmi tied to a chair. He informed the Vallam police, who rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry with the couple.Since their house was located on the outskirts of the village, Dhanalakhsmi's screams for help went unheard, said police. In a complaint lodged by Neelamegam, he stated that the thieves stole gold jewellery worth 12 sovereigns and Rs 60,000 cash.
