Trichy: The Trichy city police registered a case of robbery against three of the accused in the kidnap of realtor Dhanpal, 58, who was resuced on Friday. K K Nagar police booked Tamil of Trichy, Boominathan of Chennai and their accomplice Thiruvadi under Sections 392 and 397 of IPC for robbery.Police said that the accused first robbed D Vadivel, 41, of TVS Toll Gate in Trichy of 3.5 sovereign of gold ornaments. The three accused informed Vadivel that they had kidnapped their relative Dhanapal, a resident of Indian Bank Colony in KK Nagar, and demanded Rs 10,000 as ransom. Since Vadivel refused to hand over the cash to the accused, they met him near the jail corner in Subramaniapuram in the morning on Friday. Vadivel was also robbed of his 3.5 sovereigns of gold chain at knife point by them, police said.Police arrested Boominathan and Thiruvadi on Friday and kept them in custody for interrogation whereas Tamil was yet to be arrested. Dhanapal, a real estate businessman, has been missing since the night on September 18 from his house.A special police team picked up three people during a vehicle check near Mannarpuram on Thursday night. Acting on the information they gave, police rescued Dhanapal from Olaiyur area and arrested two more people on Friday morning.Questioning of the arrested revealed that Tamil and Boominathan were the masterminds behind the kidnap, who were involved in several criminal cases in many police stations. Police are still on the lookout for the other accused in the case.
