Trichy: Police arrested four people involved in two-wheeler thefts which led to the seizure of seven stolen bikes from them.The arrested were identified as D Subash, 24, from Thiruvellarai, U Moideen Shah, 33, from Edamalaipatti Pudhur, M Vigneshkumar, 23, from Podhavur, and R Abdul Salam Nawaz, 25 from Inamdhar Thoppu. Police said they caught them during a vehicle check near Oyamaari crematorium on Sunday.Trichy commissioner of police A Amalraj had formed a special team to nab bike thieves in the city. The probe by the special team gained momentum after a complaint from G Yasser Arafat, 22, from Thennur. His bike was stolen when it was parked near the district central library in Singrathoppu on September 18.Police said the four offenders were on two bikes. The engine and chassis numbers of both the bikes were found erased which led to suspicion and the police took them for interrogation. It was found that one of the bikes was that of Yasser’s. The total worth of the seven recovered stolen vehicles was 2.9 lakh. tnn
