Trichy: Sleuths from the income tax (I-T) department conduct searches at the house, office and business establishments of the chairman of the Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) in Thanjavur, located in Mannargudi in Tiruvarur and Thanjavur districts on Monday.According to sources, a leading contractor T Manoharan, a native of Cherankulam village near Mannargudi owned a number of commercial establishments in these two districts.A team of officials numbering around 30 arrived at his house at 10am on Monday and conducted the searches.At the same time, the I-T officials also conducted searches in his commercial establishments like lodge at a Keelaraja Veedhi, petrol bunk in town, transport office at Kammalar Street and stone quarry at Poovanur near Needamangalam. The searches continued till late in the evening.Meanwhile, another team of officials conducted a search at a marriage hall in Thirukarugavur in Thanjavur district. The team arrived at the marriage hall at around 1.40pm with police personnel and searched the premises till 4pm. They retrieved some vital documents from the hall, sources said.
