Trichy: Trichy corporation for the first time witnessed a review meeting presided by tourism minister Vellamandi N Natarajan and backward class welfare minister S Valarmathi on Monday. Officials said that smart city project proposals, the current status of projects being implemented, and funds spent thus far by the mission were elaborated to the state ministers.Put on fast-track mode, the corporation has managed to receive administrative nod from the high power committee for three smart city proposals while two project proposals have obtained both administrative and technical sanctions to commence works. The review meeting was convened by the ministers as they were keen on expediting the other proposals in the backdrop of the Ariyamangalam biomining project getting the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration's nod for floating a tender to reclaim the dump yard land. Attended by corporation commissioner N Ravichandran, city engineer S Amuthavalli, executive engineers and assistant executive engineers, the officials explained the scope of various proposals including Uyyakondan promenade development and multi-level car parking near West Boulevard road. “Status of the development works taken up such as renovating the existing public parks was discussed. Proposals planned under smart cities mission were also explained to the ministers,” an official source with the corporation said.While invites were reportedly not extended to city DMK MLAs for the review meeting, the ministers claimed that all stakeholders will be properly invited from the next review meetings.
