Family counselling centre opened at all woman police station

Trichy: A family counselling centre (FCC) was opened at all woman police station Srirangam in Trichy to ensure an effective and speedy redressal for the family disputes among the couples in Trichy here on Tuesday.The objective of the family counselling centre is to work on reconciliation between the couple to convince them of leading the life instead of breaking up. The centre will work in coordination with the police to sort out family disputes caused by dowry harassment, domestic violence etc. It suggested that the centre can be set up on collector’s office campus, local government building, AWPS or at one stop centre (OSC). The centre was earlier run on the premises of the NGO.The ministry found it essential to keep FCC at a fixed location in order to facilitate the people to easily access the centre. Already run by an NGO – SOC SEAD recognised by the government, FCC got the new location following the advice from the union ministry of women and child development.

The centre will work in coordination with the police to sort out family disputes caused by dowry harassment, domestic violence etc. People can approach the centre at the centre for reconciliation to avoid divorce.Inaugurating the centre, district social welfare officer (DSWO) A Thamim Munisha said that having the centre house in all women police station would ensure coordinated effort of the counsellors and the police officers to achieve the better result in reconciliation, counselling to the families, victims of domestic violence and dowry harassment.DSWO Thamim Munisha advised the women to consider the education provided to them was to empower them and the men to conduct themselves with dignity in dealing with the issues between couples.She made this point as a result of the increasing number of such issues raised by men and women for trivial issues.
