Five held for selling banned lottery tickets

They visited the backside of the Palakkattu Mariyamman temple in Beema Nagar on Sundya and found A Petha alias Shanmuganathan, 33 from Beema Nagar and K Raju, 50 from the same area involved in selling of banned lottery ticket numbers. The selling price for his tickets was Rs 340 per ticket.Acting on a tip-off, the Palakkarai police also arrested two people. On Saturday, the city police arrested two people in connection with the lottery sales. He was arrested near Thippiran Thotty Street, police said.Gandhi Market police arrested two people at two places on Sunday, who were identified as M Raja, 33 from Manimadapasali near Gandhi Market and seized the sheet with lottery ticket numbers. The police seized two sheets of papers with ticket numbers and the price of each ticket was Rs 240.All the five people were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

Trichy: As a part of the recent crackdown on the illegal sale of lotteries, city police arrested five people in connection with the same on Sunday.The Fort police arrested G Thiyagarajan alias Thiyagu, 50 from Maruthuvakara Street and seized two papers in which the lottery tickets were printed. He was arrested near Thippiran Thotty Street, police said.Gandhi Market police arrested two people at two places on Sunday, who were identified as M Raja, 33 from Manimadapasali near Gandhi Market and seized the sheet with lottery ticket numbers. He was selling the numbers for Rs 450 each near Ganesan Tea Stall.The Gandhi Market police also arrested B Gundu Balu alias Balakumar, 30 from Pensioner Street in Varaganeri in Trichy and confiscated the paper with numbers. The selling price for his tickets was Rs 340 per ticket.Acting on a tip-off, the Palakkarai police also arrested two people.
