Trichy: An 18-year-old student of Sastra Deemed to be University in Thanjavur was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room on Sunday.The student was identified as M Harish, a native of Madurai. He was pursuing his first year B Com LLB (hons), a five-year full-time course.One of his roommates, who returned from Coimbatore after Diwali holidays on Sunday night noticed Harish hanging. He then alerted the hostel staff, who informed the Vallam police.According to police, who made inquiries with some of his classmates, Harish was weak in academics and was depressed for not being proficient in English.Harish had returned to college a day after Diwali, and was staying alone in the room while two of his roommates came only on Sunday.Since the room was found locked from inside, police termed it to be a suicide case and are ascertaining the actual reason for his death.A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPc in the Vallam police station. The police said further investigation would find our the exact of death.
