A 30-year-old woman was crushed to death with a stone by her paramour at the latter’s house in Sunnambukarapatti on the outskirts of Trichy in the early hours of Wednesday.The victim was identified as Neela, a widow with a 13-year-old son and residing in Thogamalai area in Karur district. The incident came to light after R Natarajan, 31, a construction worker surrendered before the Somarasampatti police.Police said that Natarajan met Neela when he had gone to work in her area. It gradually developed into an illicit affair. Natarajan started living with her in Thogaimalai.The duo began having differences of opinion after Natarajan started suspecting and questioned Neela about the frequent phone calls she used to receive. On Tuesday, he took her to his house.They again had another heated argument and went to sleep. However, an agitated Natarajan took a grinding stone at around 2am and smashed it on her head when she was fast asleep. She was killed on the spot.After killing her, Natarajan sat near the body till morning after which he went to the police station.The Somarasampettai police visited the spot and recovered the body. Natarajan was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
