Man cheats seven by availing Rs 5 lakh loan using their documents

TRICHY: A former employee of a mobile phone showroom was arrested on charges of cheating seven people by taking loans using their documents as proof in Trichy on Thursday. Subsequently, the police booked under sections 465, 468, 471 and 420 of IPC and arrested him.He was produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody. The police said that Dharani had approached the outlet for buying mobile phones through loan instalments for which he submitted the document which Aruldoss misused without his knowledge.Acting on the complaint, the police picked up Aruldoss and questioned him. City crime branch police arrested T Aruldoss, 28, a resident of Udaiyarpalayam in Ariyalur district, on Thursday.The police registered the case based on a direction from commissioner of police (CoP), Trichy city. According to the complainant, M Dharani, 25, of Othakadai in Cantonment area, Aruldoss, an employee of the mobile phone outlet, collected his ID proof and bank account details and misused them to avail of loans from private finance companies.

The inquiry revealed that he had misused the documents of six other people too and taken Rs 5.30 lakh as loan from finance companies.Dharani alleged that though the cheating had happened in January, he came to know about the incident only recently after Aruldoss defaulted on the repayment of the balance loan amount of Rs 2 lakh.The complainant confronted him and lodged a complaint with the police commissioner. Subsequently, the police booked under sections 465, 468, 471 and 420 of IPC and arrested him.He was produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
