Case against man for filing false plaint with police

Trichy: A 40-year-old man landed in trouble after police found that a robbery complaint he has lodged with them was part of a drama he staged to mislead his wife. One of them caused an injury to his right forearm with a knife before committing the robbery.After registering a case, the police launched the investigation an detained the three suspects. Eventually, he admitted to have lodged a fake complaint to mislead his wife.The police found that Chethan had pledged his jewellery to pay off debts without telling his wife. He decided to stage a drama to keep things under wrap from his wife.The police treated the case as mistake of facts (MF) after issuing a referred charge sheet (RCS) notice to Chethan. On questioning them, the police learnt that no such robbery has taken place.

Following this, the police registered a case against him on Friday.The Golden Rock police registered a case against K Chethan Rajkar, 40, Sasthri Road in Thennur, Trichy, on charges of misleading the police with false complaint of a robbery.On November 12, Chethan had lodged a complaint with the Golden Rock police alleging that three persons had robbed him of a gold chain weighing seven sovereigns and bracelet weighing three sovereigns at knifepoint on C type Main Road in Melakalkandarkottai at 4.30 pm on the same day.He said that the three persons involved in the robbery appeared to be between 28 and 30 years of age. He said wore helmet and used kerchiefs to cover their faces. One of them caused an injury to his right forearm with a knife before committing the robbery.After registering a case, the police launched the investigation an detained the three suspects. On questioning them, the police learnt that no such robbery has taken place. Growing suspicious, police questioned Chethan. Eventually, he admitted to have lodged a fake complaint to mislead his wife.The police found that Chethan had pledged his jewellery to pay off debts without telling his wife. He decided to stage a drama to keep things under wrap from his wife.The police treated the case as mistake of facts (MF) after issuing a referred charge sheet (RCS) notice to Chethan. As he was accused of causing a public servant to use the lawful power to the injury of another person(s), he was booked under section 182 of IPC after getting the permission from judicial magistrate court IV in Trichy on Friday.
