On Friday evening, when the Selvi was overseeing food preparation for people who were evacuated and accommodated in a government school in the village, Siva, union secretary of AIADMK from Kizhvelur, started a verbal altercation with the VAO demanding swiftness in food preparation.Sources said that Siva assaulted and verbally abused the VAO when she was replying to him. Onlookers rescued Selvi and took her to a nearby hospital.The incident was brought to the notice of TNVAOA and a complaint was lodged by the victim at Kizhvelur police station.
