TRICHY: Two Tangedco workers suffered electric shock while repairing a transformer near Kalamavur in Pudukkottai district on Tuesday.Murugesan and Mohan, both hailing Namakkal district, were deputed to carry out repair work of transformers in the cyclone Gaja-ravaged Pudukkottai. MGMGH dean G Anitha told TOI that both of them had sustained “severe electric shock.”“They are kept under constant observation in the intensive care unit. The condition of Murugesan is critical,” she said. Though power was shut down when they were working on the transformer, they suffered shock due to a reverse by electrical current from a nearby college where a diesel powered portable generator was switched on.Hearing about the incident, health minister C Vijaya Baskar rushed to the spot and coordinated the rescue work.The duo were admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH).
