TRICHY: Two persons including a 48-year-old woman were electrocuted in Alangudi of Pudukottai on Monday.The incident took place in an agriculture land in Araiapatti village when the duo came in contact with a live wire hanging from an electric pole and died on the spot.The deceased are identified as M Susila 48 and her nephew S Sakthivel 28.Susila who went to the farmland to fetch water from a well found the electric wire hanging from the pole.Without realising that it was a livewire, she tried to relocate it and was electrocuted.Her nephew Sakthivel, who tried to save her, too was electrocuted.Tangedco executive engineer Natarajan however put the onus on the local people alleging them of restoring power connection on many poles on their own."A Tangedco wireman on Sunday disconnected power in the same pole but found a local to have climbed the pole and tried to restore power. The wireman went back after warning the local," said Natarajan.We are trying to ascertain who has restored power in this line which was disconnected by EB workers.
