Till now it was only mandatory for government college teachers.A letter from the director of collegiate education R Sarumathi stated that teaching and non-teaching staff of government and aided arts and science colleges have purchased immovable properties like plots and houses without bringing it to the notice of her office.“However, many have sent applications seeking approval for the same after making the purchase without the knowledge of her office. Therefore, it has been made mandatory for the staff to get approval from their concerned regional joint director (RJD) office before making any purchase of immovable property,” stated the director in her letter.According to sources from the regional joint director office, many of the teachers are not furnishing property details even after purchasing it. In many cases, it has become a mere ritual to inform RJD office on their purchase after months or even years in some cases.“The issue has come up after many hid the details of the purchase of multiple properties with the knowledge of the director’s office.
