Police plan to install high mast CCTVs

Trichy: The commissioner of police, Trichy city A Amalraj on Friday revealed the plan for fitting surveillance cameras in high mast lamps as part of crime prevention in the city.“The process of installing state-of-the-art surveillance cameras in high mast lamps is in the pipeline to prevent offenders from damaging the cameras for committing crimes like burglaries. The traffic movements were being monitored from the control room in the city throughout the day. So, we have also planned for mounting cameras at the backside of commercial establishments,” Amalraj told reporters.Prior to that, he inaugurated the new office building for the Cantonment traffic regulation wing near session’s court police station. The new building was renovated at Rs 5 lakh.The traffic police wings have been provided with barricades, flickering lights etc worth Rs 10 lakh, he said.On the traffic regulation, the commissioner said that they were making constant efforts to reduce traffic congestion. Of late, burglars enter the houses and banks through the back door.
