Free Sunday health checkup now available at Ramalinga Nagar park

During the inaugural day of the free health check-up at Ramalinga Nagar, as many as 150 people who visited the park for morning walk had their health indicators checked. This was done in as many as three public parks located at Thillai Nagar, Royals Road and Thennur Anna Nagar with the help of private hospitals. The corporation has been organizing free health check-ups since May 6, 2018 to help senior citizens to keep track of their health indicators such as blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and blood glucose levels. Since a large number of senior citizens visit the South Ramalinga Nagar park near Vayalur road, the free health checkup was extended there by the corporation on Sunday.On an average, at least 500 people per park a month were believed to have made use of the health camps in the three parks since last year. Officials said that free check-ups would continue in these parks every Sunday.

Trichy: Overwhelmed by the patronage shown by the local people towards the free Sunday health camps being organized through private hospitals at three public parks here, the city corporation has extended the initiative to South Ramalinga Nagar park near Vayalur Road.The civic body is revamping as many as 20 public parks and establishing 35 open gyms across the four zones of the city corporation. While walking tracks are being established in the parks, open gyms are meant to encourage residents to pursue a healthy lifestyle. The corporation has been organizing free health check-ups since May 6, 2018 to help senior citizens to keep track of their health indicators such as blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and blood glucose levels. This was done in as many as three public parks located at Thillai Nagar, Royals Road and Thennur Anna Nagar with the help of private hospitals.
