Christina Bridget to be appointed as principal of Holy Cross College

Trichy: The director of collegiate education (DCE) has cleared the decks for in-charge principal A Christina Bridget to be appointed as regular principal of the Holy Cross College, Trichy.Earlier, doubts were raised about Bridget continuing as in-charge principal despite Bharathidasan University refusing to give qualification approval to her citing eligibility issues. Bharathidasan University, however, refused to give qualification approval to Bridget as office of the RJD did not recognize her service of over four years under UGC faculty development programme (FDP).The RJD office on Tuesday accepted to count her experience under faculty improvement programme (FIP) for career advancement making her eligible to be associate professor and eventually eligible to become principal of government-aided college. It was also said that Holy Cross College management had overlooked seniority of many teachers for appointing Bridget as principal.However, an order from the regional joint director of collegiate education (RJDCE), Trichy on Tuesday made her eligible by taking into consideration her experience under UGC faculty development programme (FDP) for career advancement.A set of teachers supporting Bridget’s candidature said the university ignored her experience under FDP with which she will be having total 16 years of experience and that makes her eligible for the post of principal.A college teacher must have been an associate professor with a minimum 12 years of experience to be posted as principal.
